about this piece
Why did I 3D render a spinning donut? Because THAT'S WHAT YOU DO. You learn about Blender, you get Blender, you realize your current computer can't handle it without the program crashing and give up, you inherit a better computer, download Blender again, and you you follow the Donut Tutorial by Blender Guru on Youtube and make a donut.
As he says in the beginning of the video, you can't learn Blender without help lol. A lot of programs you can kind of bullshit around and figure stuff out through your own experimentation. This is not one of those programs. I haven't used other 3D software like Maya or anything else, so I don't know if it's the same for them, but I imagine it must be similar. However the program has A TON of functionality and is very powerful, with keyboard hotkeys for practically everything you can need, which is awesome. Love me some hotkeys.
At the end of the tutorial he teaches you how to make a little movie out of your donut, and I have a policy when following tutorials to follow them to the letter the first time no matter what I would personally choose to do otherwise and leave the experimentation for after I finish trying it out how I'm told. This tends to work really well for me most of the time. So here is my spinning donut:
